Boat Launches in the Finger Lakes by Body of Water

Note: These are official/designated boat launches. Many bodies of water have popular boat launch sites that are not so designated. To find them, click on "Search by Keyword" in the upper left of this page and search by the body of water. You may also want to check Marinas.

Fees

Boat launch sites operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation are free. Other sites usually charge a fee. This fee will vary but is usually less than $10 per launch.

Types of Launch Sites

• Hard surface or concrete ramp--site affords float-off and float-on launching for most trailered boats.
• Beach launch--no float-off or float-on boat capability. Sites will accommodate the approach to the water's edge of small and light trailered boats. Boat may then be pushed on or off trailer. Usually shallow areas.
• Hand launch--no trailer capacity. Boats must be hand carried to the water.
• Car-top launch--for canoe/kayak launching.

Papish Pond

Park Station Lake

(M) Park Station Park. In the Town of Erin, off Laurel Hill Rd. 3 mi./4.8 km. north of State Route 223. Hard-surface ramp. Parking. No motors allowed.

Parker Pond

(P) Cayuga Co. Town of Cato at Parker Pond Gun Shop on Shortcut Rd., which runs north and south midway between Cato and Meridian. Non-motorized boats only. Fee. Parking.

Sandy Creek

Sterling Creek

(M) Cayuga Co. Town of Sterling. From 104A-East to Sterling, follow signs to Sterling NatureCenter. On Farden Rd., the launch is past the Renaissance Festival just over the bridge on the right. There is a long driveway with a couple of parking spaces at the end. The launch is to the south along the trail.
(S) Cayuga Co. Fair Haven Beach State Park on Lake Ontario. Motorized and non- motorized access for a fee. This leads to both Sterling Creek and Sterling Pond.
