Long Point State Park near Aurora, New York is a small day-use park with a clean, toney beach, boat launch, and other facilities.

Location

Long Point State Park is situated on the east side of Cayuga Lake on a V-shaped spit of land extending out into the water. Located just south of the charming village of Aurora and near a number of excellent wineries, the park is mid-distance between the northern and southern ends of the lake.

Facilities

Principally a day-use park in a residential area, Long Point offers a stoney beach, a supervised swimming area, a bathhouse, a playground, a boat launch and temporary docking area with two concrete ramps, a gazebo, and a picnic area with tables and grilles. Mowed grass provides space for ball game and other activities.

The park also has a full-service cottage on the lake that sleeps four. Inside, is a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom, a livingroom with sleeper sofa, a wood stove, and a kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator and sink. Outside, is a boat dock, a picnic table, fire ring and grill, and a small lawn area. There are no camping facilities at the park.

Bike riding can be done on the park road, which is relatively short. A better ride would be down Lake Road to State Route 90 through the Village of Aurora. Although slightly hilly, State Route 90 is a pleasant road for long rides. Bring something to drink and wear a helmut.

The park is open year round. Pets must be leashed.

The boat launch area at Long Point State Park has two concrete ramps. There is also a temporary dock and a parking lot for vehicles hauling trailers.
