Named for the Rochester gardener, rose expert, and civic leader who donated the land, the Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area is located on Canadice Hill on Canadice Hill Road in the southern part of the Town of Canadice in Ontario County.

Open year round, this 740-acre site offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and picnicking. A pavilion is available for group activities.

Canadice Hill is about 2,000 ft./609 m. in elevation. There is an overlook in the recreation area that provides a panoramic view of the Honeoye Lake and the surrounding area. The hill's high elevation means that it gets more snow than the Honeoye Lake basin and, consequently, attracts many people, especially from the City of Rochester, who cross-country ski and snowshoe. The Rochester XC Ski Foundation grooms more than 6 mi./10 km. of trails in the recreation area and holds events for skiers of various levels . Trail conditions. Map.
