Jane Marsh Dieckmann 

Jane Marsh Dieckmann first came to the Finger Lakes as an undergrad at Wells College in Aurora from which she graduated in 1955 summa cum laude with a B.A. in French. After studying in Paris on a Fulbright scholarship, Jane went on to earn both an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in romance languages.

 

Taking up residence in Ithaca, Jane assisted her first husband, Herbert Dieckmann, in editing a critical edition of the complete works of 18th century French philosopher Denis Diderot, while working for university presses and trade publishing houses as an indexer and copy editor.

 

A lover of books, Jane volunteers her time for the Friends of the Tompkins County Library and other local interests.

 

Besides producing cookbooks, Jane is also the author of A Short History of Tompkins County, Wells College: A History, and The Towns of Tompkins County: From Podunk to Magnet Springs.
