So, you're visiting the Finger Lakes or are new to the area and would like to have some fun and make a few connections. Well, we've got just the ticket for you. WHERE TO GOLong WalksIf you like long walks in the out of doors with the smell of rabbits, squirrels, and deer, take a hike on just about any of the trails listed here. The Finger Lakes Trail has hundreds of miles through public and private land. State forests and state parks are always a good bet, too. When hiking, don't forget to bring plenty of water. TOMPKINS COUNTY Ithaca Dog Park

WHAT TO DOFarm SanctuaryFarm Sanctuary is a rescue, education, and advocacy organization for farm animals with a 175-acre farm near Watkins Glen and next to Sugar Hill State Forest. They have three cabins for rent and provide breakfast. Lollypop FarmThe Humane Society of Rochester and Monroe County at Lollypop Farm has a pet adoption facility, offers tours of its farm, and has a gift shop with many items of interest to dogs. Nature trail, obedience classes. James Pass ArboretumIf you're one of those well-mannered types that doesn't mind being on a leash, the Pass Arboretum in Syracuse may be just the place for you. This quiet 13.8 acre park is a well-known dog-walking spot with many unique and interesting labeled trees. City wildlife abounds. Street parking is available. Access is along Avery Avenue within easy walking distance of Burnet Park. (The two parks meet at the intersection of Avery and Whittier avenues.) This 88-acre park has a picnic area, swimming pool, golf course, athletic field and zoo. Off-street parking is available at Burnet Park. WineriesMany of the wineries in the Finger Lakes allow dogs outdoors. An EnLIGHTening ExperienceEvery winter Onondaga County Parks creates a huge, two-mile/three-kilometer drive-through display of lights at Onondaga Lake Park.
