Braddock Bay Wildife Management Area

Habitat: About 6 mi./9.7 km. west of Rochester along the Lake Ontario State Parkway is the Braddock Bay complex. This area consists of about 2,500 acres of shoreline, marsh, ponds, gravel and sand barrier bars, and the bay itself all administered as Braddock Bay Wildlife Management Area along with Braddock Bay Marina and Braddock Bay Park.

 

Seasons: The area provides excellent habitat for many species of waterfowl, especially during migration. The park has an observation platform for raptor waSunset on Braddock Bay.tching. During one February to June survey period 106,644 raptors, comprising 15 species, were seen migrating north. Peak migration occurs in late April.

 

Other activities: The park (375 acres) offers hiking and nature trails, picnicking facilities, and an education center but no camping. Boats can be launched from several sites in the area on Braddock Bay Road. Biking is permitted on the Parkway and on paved roads in the area.
