APPELLATION

Unlike in France where appellations are associated with towns, the Finger Lakes is its own appellation and the sub-regions are mostly associated with lakes. Because the Finger Lakes is such a large region with the wineries spread farther apart, it's best to concentrate on visiting the wineries around one lake or on one side of a lake.
