U-Cut Flowers in the Finger Lakes

Tired of buying cut flowers in the grocery store that only last a couple of days. Now you can buy farm fresh flowers three ways--at Finger Lakes farm markets, at regional farmers' markets, and by cutting them yourself.

Here's what to look for in fresh flowers.

♥ Flower stems should be green and smooth.

♥ Buds should be erect.

♥ Petals should be just before the height of color with no brown.

♥ Leaves should be crisp.

Avoid:

Flowers that are wilted, buggy, browning, faded.
