Clawson, who, in 1878, started a sanatarium in the hamlet of Havana, Town of Montour Falls. Using steam heated water from Montour Springs, the sanatarium treated the chronically ill and acted as a resort for the well-to-do. The Brick Tavern is home to the Schuyler County Historical Society, which has local history displays especially as applies to the Indians who first settled the area. This house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
