Hilton, NY 14468

Services: C,M,O,P,Q,U,CC

Coming in from Lake Ontario through Braddock Bay in the Finger Lakes, New York, USA.

About 6 mi./9.7 km. west of Rochester along the Lake Ontario State Parkway is the Braddock Bay complex. This area consists of about 2,500 acres of shoreline, marsh, ponds, gravel and sand barrier bars, and the bay itself administered as Braddock Bay Fish and Wildlife Management Area and Braddock Bay Marina and Braddock Bay Park, both operated by the Town of Greece.

The area provides excellent habitat for many species of waterfowl, especially during migration. The state park has an observation platform for raptor watching. During one February to June survey period 106,644 raptors, comprising 15 species, were seen migrating north. Peak migration occurs in late April. The state park (375 acres) offers hiking and nature trails, picnicking facilities, and an education center but no camping. Boats can be launched from several sites in the area. Biking is permitted on the Parkway and on paved roads in the area.

(Note: Contrary to what you might hear, there is no lighthouse at Braddock Bay.)
